About Subversive Sisters
Our Story
Kimberly and Paula, the sisters behind Subversive Sisters, often would share pictures of t-shirts they liked or things they would like to see on a shirt. One day they decided to see what it would take to actually do their own shirts with things they want to see.
They started a shared document with page after page of shirt ideas. Even though they live in two different states, they found ways to share ideas - video calls, messaging apps, old fashioned phone calls, and when they could - they visited in person.
They kicked off officially in August 2024. Kimberly and Paula want to share commentary on current events, inspiring quotes, art licensed directly from artists, photos they have taken and more...all with a side of sarcasm and snark. They have made it one of their goals to reclaim the language of faith and patriotism from the political right by declaring their faiths and their love for the USA. The first batch of shirts revolved around the upcoming presidential election, a favorite quote from Alice in Wonderland, and art from an upcoming artist named Jonathan, who happens to be Paula's son.
And they were off! They started with a Bonfire store and a Facebook page. Now they have a website. Read on to learn more about their shirts, tips for ordering, and how to contact them with questions or ideas for new shirts.

A little background
Paula and Kimberly are both GenX parents and cat moms. We spent our early years bouncing around Navy bases in the US and ended up in the Midwest. We live in different states, are involved in our communities and love to get out in nature.

We have shirts dealing with current events, showcasing artists we like, sharing quotes that inspire us, and touching on our spiritual beliefs. You will find things about politics, GenX, literary and Biblical quotes, memes and sayings we've come across, feelings about things that trigger us as women, and cool art that we find to license. We have designs we've done specifically on request for protests, camp and group events. Some of these get shared in the store, some are for private sale only.
We periodically shuffle the order of the shirts shown to highlight different shirts.
We chose the styles and colors we felt best represented the kinds of shirts people might like in colors that work well with that design. If you want a different style shirt or a different color, please contact us and we can set that up.
If you want a shirt to say something that we don’t currently have, please let us know! We are always coming up with new ideas and love to hear from others what they want to see on a shirt.
It is recommended that all our shirts are best laundered by turning them inside out, wash on a gentle or delicate cycle, and either hung to dry or dried on the lowest cycle available on your dryer. The nature of the printing process means that there will be fading over time. Let us know if there is a significant issue.
We will do custom shirts for individuals, groups and events. We have done shirts for people who are going through cancer treatments, attending protest events, starting up a business, or a group going to camp together. Contact us and we can start that conversation!
We are looking at adding other wearables, such as backpacks or tote bags. Feel free to weigh in on the idea.
Regarding returns and refunds, these are print on demand shirts. Bonfire will not issue refunds for these. If you are truly dissatisfied, please contact us, let us know what the problem is, and we will address it.
